Demetrios Sampson is a Professor of Digital Systems for Learning and Education, Director of the MSc Program on Digital Learning, and Director of the Research Laboratory DiLearn at the Department of Digital Systems, University of Piraeus, Greece. He has been a Professor and Director of Research at the School of Education, Curtin University in Australia (2015-2017) and a Visiting Professor in 8 Universities in 4 continents. He is included in the Stanford/Scopus list of the World's Top 2% Most Cited Scientists for his research in Learning Technologies and Digital Education. He is the co-author of 310+ book chapters, journal articles, and conference proceedings papers with more than 9740 citations (h-index: 47, Scholar Google - November 2024). He has co-authored or co-edited 22 scientific books published by Springer, accessed more than 600.000 times. He has received 10 Best Paper Awards in International Conferences on Learning Technologies. He has been a Keynote/Invited Speaker at 100+ International/National Conferences. He has developed and delivered the Analytics for the Classroom Teacher MOOC offered by the edX platform (a Harvard and MIT-led global initiative) which has attracted more than 30.000 participants from 180 countries. He is the recipient of the IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Service Award (July 2012) and named a Golden Core Member of the IEEE Computer Society in recognition of his contribution to the field of Learning Technologies (2013). He is also the recipient of the Golden Nikola Tesla Chain Award of the International Society for Engineering Pedagogy (IGIP) for "International outstanding achievements in the field of Engineering Pedagogy" (September 2018).
