Vangelis is a Ph.D Law Researcher at VUB's Cyber and Data Security Lab. His research concentrates on AI in Policing from legal and operational perspectives, emphasising biometrics and predictive policing.

As a Senior Police Officer of the Hellenic Police, Vangelis's expertise lies in investigating public security serious crimes. He currently serves as a vital link between the Hellenic Police and the EU for internal security matters, holding the position of Justice and Home Affairs Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Greece to the EU.

Within his activities, Vangelis plays a crucial role as a national expert of Greece at the European Commission's Expert Group on AI in the Home Affairs domain. He also represents the Greek law enforcement community at the Prohibitions subgroup of the European Artificial Intelligence (AI) Board.
