Niko Efstathiou

Niko is a journalist and author from Athens, Greece. He was the Managing Editor at LiFO and a reporter and media strategist for Kathimerini, while his work has appeared on the BBC, NBC News, Al Jazeera, Ahval, La Libération, and the International New York Times in Greece. His reporting specializes on geopolitics and focuses on Europe and the East Mediterranean, as well as technology and culture. In 2022, Niko published my first book “Pyrros, on a first name basis” an intimate narrative biography of Pyrros Dimas, weighlifter and Greece’s most decorated Olympic athlete in direct collaboration with him, which grew to be a best-seller in Greece. Niko also worked as Communications Officer for WHO’s Country Office in Greece in 2020-2021, at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and was selected as a 2016 Google News Lab Fellow partnering with WITNESS Media Lab and working on new media and human rights monitoring through citizen journalism.
