Pantelis Z. Lappas is a Senior AI/ML Researcher at Research & Innovation Development (RID) department of Netcompany-Intrasoft. His educational background includes a PhD in Operations Research (2017), MSc degrees in Statistics with specialization in quantitative statistical methods applied in decision making (2013) and in Information Systems with specialization in Business Information Systems (2009) from Athens University of Economics and Business. In addition, he holds a BSc degree in Informatics Engineering from University of West Attica (2007), as well as pedagogical and didactic competence from School of Pedagogical and Technological Education (2011).

His post-doctoral studies consist of novel, sophisticated and accurate machine learning and optimization algorithms for credit scoring and financial risk management problems. He has extensive professional experience of designing, implementing, and applying machine learning and optimization techniques in finance and business, whereas he has been involved in numerous AI-oriented research projects in domain fields such as Finance, Health, and Security (e.g., HORIZON 2020, HORIZON Europe, etc.). His research interests are rooted in Operations Research and Artificial Intelligence. He is primarily interested in Optimization, Artificial Neural Networks, Deep Reinforcement Learning, Generative AI, Fuzzy Inference Systems and Evolutionary Computing.
